Agenda
한강은 서울 시민들에게 가장 가까운 자연이지만, 문화적으로는 가장 멀리 떨어져 있는 공간이다. 시민들은 이곳에서 일상적인 여가는 누리지만, 머물면서 비일상적인 문화 경험을 누릴 기회는 부족하다. 한강의 스케일과 입지는 여가적 성격을 넘어 도심의 문화적 필요를 품을 수 있는 잠재력이 크지만, 예술 콘텐츠를 위한 기반은 여전히 도심 외곽에 집중되어 있다.
이 프로젝트는 한강을 매개로 도심과 문화를 연결하는 2만 명 수용 규모의 도심형 대중음악 공연장을 제안하여, 새로운 문화의 흐름을 만들고, 세계적인 문화정체성을 강화하기 위해 기획되었다. 한강만이 줄 수 있는 자연성과 도심성이 공존하는 장소성을 활용하고자 한다.
The Han River is the closest natural space for Seoul citizens, yet remains culturally distant. While it serves everyday leisure, chances to stay and engage in extraordinary cultural experiences are limited. Despite its scale and central location, most cultural infrastructure remains concentrated on the urban outskirts.
This project proposes a 20,000-seat urban music venue that connects the city and culture through the Han River, creating a new cultural flow and strengthening Seoul’s global cultural identity by leveraging its unique blend of nature and urbanity.

서울시 용산구 서빙고동 한강변의 유휴부지는 강변북로와 맞닿아 있고, 서빙고역에서 도보 10분 거리에 위치하며, 고속터미널, 용산역, 서울역과도 가까워 도심 및 전국 단위 교통망과의 연결이 용이하다. 특히 대규모 관중을 수용할 수 있는 면적과 주차 공간을 갖추고 있으며, 시각적 개방감과 도심과의 적절한 거리감이 공존하는 도심 속 비일상적 몰입환경을 제공하여, 공연장 입지로서 적합성이 높다.
The waterfront in Seobinggo is well connected to both citywide and national transit networks. It offers ample space and parking for large crowds, and its balance of openness and urban detachment creates an immersive environment ideal.
공연장 하부는 필로티 구조의 주차공간으로 한강 범람 시 환경 대응 공간으로 사용될 수 있도록 계획되었으며, 일반 관객, 장애인, VIP, 관계자 동선을 효율적으로 분리하여 배치하였다.
또한 관객의 20%는 셔틀버스를 이용할 것으로 예상하여, 약 4천 명을 1시간 내에 분산수용할 수 있는 버스 승강장 마련하였다.
The ground level is planned as a piloti parking lot, as a buffer in case of river flooding. Circulation for general audiences, disabled visitors, VIPs, and staff are efficiently separated. Assuming 20% of visitors will use shuttle buses, the design also includes a bus platform.
Concept
디자인 핵심 개념은 ‘한강의 흐름과 파동을 닮은 건축’이다. 유선형의 곡선 매스는 강의 흐름을 따라 자연스럽게 배치되며, 도시의 리듬과 관객의 동선을 유기적으로 연결한다.
The design concept is ‘Architecture Resembling the Flow and Wave of the Sound and River.’ The curved mass follows the river’s flow, organically connecting urban rhythm with movement of the audience.

관람객의 보행 동선은 서쪽 진입부에서 공연장 3층으로 이어지며, 공연 종료 후에는 동쪽 육교를 통해 서빙고역으로 자연스럽게 퇴장하도록 유도하였다. 포이어는 단순한 입구 공간을 넘어, 관객의 일상성과 공연의 비일상성을 잇는 전이 공간이자 상시 문화 플랫폼으로 기능한다. 이곳에는 굿즈존, 팬 전시, 포토 부스 등 다양한 팬 활동이 가능한 공간이 마련되며, 공연이 없는 날에도 팬덤 기반의 커뮤니티가 살아 숨 쉴 수 있도록 계획되었다. 1층 객석은 스탠딩 구역과 좌석 구역으로 나뉘며, 다양한 공연 연출이 가능하도록 구성하였다. 좌석은 무대를 360도를 감싸는 형태로 계획해 무대와 관객 간 거리감을 최소화하고, 몰입도를 극대화하였다.
이 공연장은 단순한 이벤트 공간을 넘어, 한강이라는 공공 자원을 매개로 도시와 문화를 연결하며, 팬 문화가 지속 가능하게 정착할 수 있는 도심형 문화 플랫폼이다.
Circulation begins at the west entrance and leads to the third floor, with a natural exit route via the east overpass to Seobinggo Station. The foyer acts as a transitional space between daily life and performance, serving as a permanent cultural platform. It includes a merchandise zone, fan exhibitions, and photo booths, supporting an active fan community even on non-performance days. The floor area features both standing and seating zones, allowing flexible stage configurations. Seats are arranged in a 360-degree layout to reduce distance from the stage and enhance immersion. More than a temporary event space, this venue connects city and culture through the Han River, creating a sustainable urban platform for fan culture.
